What is wood framing?

Wood framing is also known as rough carpentry in the construction industry. Priding ourselves on skill and craftsmanship, the work in cutting, shaping, and installing building materials create the framework upon what your “dreams” are built on.

Why Framing Matters

Whether it’s a remodel or construction, framing matters. If the walls are not square or if the joists aren’t level and straight, the construction will not be perfect. Windows and doors won’t hang properly. Trim work, roof decking, and drywall will be hard to work with.

We take the time to frame your structure the right way so subsequent work will go smoothly. Our special attention to detail no matter the size of the project will result in stability and structure to your home and building. This, in turn, supports insulation, holds wiring in place, and helps with room ventilation via the air ducts in your homes.

Types Of Wood

Here at Young's Carpentry, we use different types of lumber depending on your needs and preferences. We will help you best match the type of wood to your project. For example, an Eastern White Pine is easy to work with and more cost-efficient for framing. Red Oaks are also inexpensive and easy to work with but are more apt to decay. White Oaks are a hardwood and have a high shrinkage rate; they are also suitable for framing as they offer stable and long-lasting framing because of their resistance to decay. Douglas Fir is a strong lumber, lending itself to minimal cracking; this wood is a strong match for beams and posts.
